Bates Kimberley CS Stock Saddle With Swinging Fender. Size Large. Photos available on request.
Stunning saddle, probably only had 5-10 rides. Only selling as it’s too big for me, I need a Medium in this style. This is a Large.
Fantastic for trekking, farm work, breaking in or riding multiple horses due to interchangeable gullet – fits anything. Nice and light to carry and throw up on those big horses.
Offers even greater comfort and contact for trail riding, breaking horses, or working on the station
Easy Change gullet – do it yourself. Comes with a Medium gullet.
(These saddles retail at around $4395 NZ now!!) Offers over $2900 considered.
Colour: Havana Brown Leather.
Questions welcome, happy to post at buyers expense. Reserve the right to withdraw at any stage as it’s for sale on other sites/locations. Saddle available after 2/3/2013.
February 17, 2013 at 7:31 pm
Update, this saddle seat measures just on 18″ so great for larger riders. Absolutely immaculate saddle, make an offer – I’ve found a medium to replace it!!!!!!!

Is there anybody out there who has a horse for hire for the Whitecombe Wanderers, 5 day track starting on the 25th February. Would you please email me on belemalik@yahoo.co.nz and I can phone you back.
Many thanks
January 29, 2013 at 10:41 am
Hi Bele – unfortunately Janes trail has been cancelled. Those who were on it are now mostly going on Tony Roderiques ‘Boundary Riders’ – about three others have horses hired from rabbit range – have you tried contacting them above?
January 29, 2013 at 6:39 pm
Hi, yes talked to Jane yesterday : (
Happy to do the Boundary Track with Tony : )
High Country Horses cancelled. Oliver Goldsmith (Harehill Horses) and Brenda Westwood have none.
Alice Stuart (Rabbitrange) has none, but is still looking.
Suzie and Murray’s email bounces back, both @ clear and paradise.
Okay, I have not given up so, where do we go from here?
cheers Bele

January 16, 2013 at 11:37 am
Hi Jo. Do you still have your Clydie boy for loan? I am looking for a loan horse with a later option to buy. However, I am currently based in the North Island, Auckland (possible move to the Waikato). I have been on two cavalcades and a hunt trek and I just love them and want to do more plus I’d like to get into endurance riding. I am an experienced rider of 30+ years experience. I’d love to know more about your horse as he sounds great, good age, size, breed and disposition. I’m not sure how much it would cost to get him to Auckland but I’d be interested to find out if you would consider a North Island home for him. My email is josie.stan@gmail.com and my landline 09 4832874. Depending on where you are I’ve met quite a lot of cavalcade people now who can vouch for me. I am the journalist who has written two stories about the cavalcade, one for Next which used to be linked to this site and one for NZ Today.
Look forward to hearing from you. Josie.

SADDLE BLANKET FOR SALE
Gorgeous, hand woven, natural, undyed wool saddle blankets.
The area directly under the saddle has a thicker, looped pile to provide extra comfort for your horse and the saddle flap area is single weave to allow close leg contact. This one blanket is the equivalent of using a thin blanket and a separate sheepskin half pad, providing an all-in-one blanket.
The natural, woven, wool fleece has a natural bounce that provides a soft cushion for your horses back – wool breathes and absorbs wet & sweat. These blankets are perfect for trekking, training, hunting, endurance, beach riding.
In stock at present: two brown fleece blankets with a gold stripe along the bottom. Designed for under English style saddles.
Can make to order, with or without tassles and choice of stripe colour along the bottom edge, in natural black/grey or brown, also white.
Easily washed or hosed off. The wool retains it bounce and comfort.
Email: frontwoods@xtra.co.nz for photos or more info.

Hi, I’m looking for a horse to hire for Alistair Gibson’s ride. We’ve just had one of ours go lame unfortunately so desperately trying to find a fit and experienced horse to use for a “seasoned” rider! We are based in Culverden, North Canterbury and can transport it if possible from here but preferably would like to find a horse near the location so we can bring less floats.
Please call me on 03 315 8938 or email me on hannah@theflyingnomad.net.
Thank you,
Hannah

Hi,
I am planning on doing Stu Moore’s trail this year and wonder if anyone would have space in their float/truck for my 16hh Standardbred. I will share fuel and other transport costs. Can float myself up to Ettrick, but would prefer to share the trip with someone else if possible. I am based in Wairio.
Cheers,
Jesse

Hi, does anyone doing Stu Moore’s trail and passing through Dunedin have a spare space in their float? My usual way of transporting my horse and me to the start of the trail fell through this year. My horse is very friendly to other horses and floats well. Of course I’d be more than happy to share costs.
If you can help me please leave a reply or email me at eva.leunissen@gmail.com
Thanks

Hi lovely Cavalcaders. I have a horse now and I’m looking forward to the event. Thanks, Josie.
December 1, 2011 at 4:53 pm
Hi
I’m in need of a horse. My name’s Josie. I’m the journalist who wrote the story on the Cavalcade that Terry’s put up on this site from Next magazine – that was 2010 when I went on heavy wagons then last year I did the five day ride and wrote a longer feature for NZ Today which I know many of you have read. Last year I was so lucky with the loan of a wonderful horse that made my cavalcade possible – and he was pretty too which was great for the magazine photos!
I’m now addicted to Cavalcade and would love to come again but this year I need a horse. I am an experience rider, early 40s, been riding since I was 7, learned in the UK (been in NZ five years). I’m not super riding fit though so I aim to do the five day trip with Jane. I have plenty of people from the last few years who can vouch for my riding and know there’s some superb horsemen on my trek who will look out for one another.
My funds are a little limited (what with my flight from Auckland on top of trek fee and being a sporadically-paid freelance writer) but I will treat your horse as if it were my own and will of course pay gas for transport to start (or arrange pickup) and make a hire-contribution. I am 5ft6in and 70kg. Can anyone help?
December 2, 2011 at 7:40 am
Hi Josie – what trail are you going on? Alice
December 2, 2011 at 11:31 am
Hi Alice, I was thinking to do Jane Whitmore’s five day ride starting at Arrowtown. However, if the horse’s owner was doing a different trail and wanted me to do the same one I’m open to that too. Thanks, Josie.

February 6, 2012 at 7:16 pm
Hi Mandy, have you found a horse yet for the Cavalcade? If not, give me a call on 021 942234. Jo
October 1, 2011 at 2:18 pm
I have a 5 yr old stocky 15.2hh stationbred (1/4 clydey) for free lease to the right person, he’s green but willing, a complete character will follow you round the paddock like a lamb. He’s been under saddle for about 3 months and was going well however as I’m now pregnant I’d like him to keep going with someone for the summer. He needs a confident rider as he can be a bit pushy, particularly on the ground. He’d be great to hack out on long rides.
Please contact me on jparsons.kriley@xtra.co.nz or 03 755 6684 (Hokitika).

Looking for a WAGON, to join the cavalcade in 2012
I’m and easy going, quick learning adaptable 47 yr old female 5.7 tall. I don’t mind sleeping in the hay, helping with horses, can lift and move stuff, worked on farms in the past. Get along with all people and animals.
Have lived in New Zealand for over 10 years in Auckland. Originally from The Netherlands, speak NL, GB, FR, GE and heard many a good story about the cavalcade.
I love the South island and hope to be part of the 20th Cavalcade next February. I used to do dressage, cross country, and jumping, but am not sure if I last a week riding, having been out of the saddle for a few years.
Let me know if I can join you(r team) by replying on here or send an email to askesa4art@gmail.com
Thanks and look forward to meeting you
December 1, 2011 at 4:59 pm

Lost: last seen at the Wanaka Rodeo grounds – Stu Moore’s Ben Ohau paddock. Looks like a small black plastic bucket, handles strapped together with plastic bag inside. This is my horses’ medical/grooming kit in a big plastic bag inside two plastic trugs. If anyone has picked this up I would dearly love to get it back! Cheers Alice (P.S. Stu this does NOT warrant dick of the day for the first day on next year’s Cavalcade….)
